was founded by the shipbroker Detlef von Appen in 1968. The Company expanded rapidly as an active operator carrying bulk cargoes throughout the world. The company developed worldwide close ties to trading houses and shipowners that remain active until today. Asian countries such as China and Thailand very quickly became a main focus of the company.
In 1984 an independent conventional liner service from Europe to the Far East with time chartered vessels was initiated and developed very successfully. In its high times 80 sailings per year with up to 2 MIO tons of cargo consisting of fertilizer, steel products and general / project cargo were performed.
Today APPENSHIP`s liner service offers a monthly liner service to the European export industry from European ports mainly Antwerp to South East Asia: Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam FAR EAST destinations in China are as also served. On inducement basis services from Asia to Europe and other destinations are offered.
APPENSHIP also carries bulk cargoes between destinations worldwide.
Furthermore APPENSHIP operates 3 coaster vessels with a capacity of 3700 ts each in the European shortsea trade and acts as logistics partner for a leading European Fertilizer producer and trader.
In APPENSHIP’s headquarter in Hamburg all activities are coordinated. Here the cargo canvassing and booking takes place, as well as the operation of the vessels. A highly experienced and motivated team successfully ensures APPENSHIP’s, reputation as a reliable and flexible partner to the customers on a day to day basis.
